Flooring

The floor is a key element of the interior, literally the basis of every room. After walls and ceilings, floors represents the largest surface area in the home. This means that new flooring can entail a substantial investment of time ,money and effort,so it is important to get it right.
While its easy to stand back and admire fresh paintwork or anew sofa ,what goes underfoot often escapes our attention.Yet a beautiful floor can do more for a room than almost any other aspect of decoration or furnishing .If you take the  time and trouble to get the flooring right in your home the rest will fall into place much more readily.
Choosing the right flooring is a decision which can not be taken lightly.
Before you begin to research alternatives, consider how all the areas in your home relate to one another.
Ideally flooring should be planned for the entire home rather than for one particular area at a time.

Wood is more demanding than hard floor in terms of care and maintenance .It is good to be sanded especially after damaging ,this also brings the new layer of wood.Makes it look fresh.
Functional as well as beautiful  wood works equally well in kitchen as in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and playrooms. Its susceptibility to changes in humidity ,however means its use is not recommended where exposure to water or steam.
A solid oak floor lasts for generations, but if you are planning to change your flooring in every -10 years ,better get something cheaper.
Thickness is critical factor and ranges from 8mm to 25mm. Usage of isolation is very important.
In the Uk most people have the carpet lined up which is very bad for your health.
It  can not be perfectly cleaned even with the carpet cleaning machine.
The laminate or wood floors are much easier to clean  especially if you ve got pets at home.
For the carpet lovers I ll add a post with the variety of choices and pros and cons.
